Then the student entrepreneur status offers you the opportunity to combine your studies and business with the necessary flexibility. This special status is officially available at most higher education institutions in Ghent.

What is the statute?
The student-entrepreneur status is a special status that is officially available within Ghent's higher education institutions, Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, HOGENT and Ghent University. It gives you more study flexibility so that you can combine your business with your studies. The exact benefits vary by college or university. Note: do not confuse the student entrepreneur status with the self-employed student tax status. This last statute is laid down in law. It determines how much social security contributions you pay and whether you can remain dependent on your parents for tax purposes. Find out more about the self-employed student status here.
How do you apply for the statute?
You apply for the status within your own educational institution. In addition, you can book a status interview with a GentRepreneur coach via Startium. During this conversation, we will get acquainted, explain our offer and explain the status of student entrepreneur. You must re-apply for the status annually at the start of the academic year.
Exceptions.
Are you a working student studying at KU Leuven, Luca or Odisee? Then this will not go through Gentrepreneur and it is best to contact your educational institution yourself.

You do the following: create an account once. Once it has been verified by our team (this happens daily on weekdays), you can get started right away. Specifically, go to “book appointment”, choose the desired appointment type, date, time and coach. Via the icon, you can choose an 'online' or 'in person' conversation. You finalize the appointment by confirming and you're done!
